It was privileged to witness and experience models audition at The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) . | AIFW Models Selection 2017 |
The 29th edition of the Amazon India Fashion Week Autumn-Winter 2017, in association with Maybelline New York, is all set to raise the style bar with 16 fresh faces, who will put their best foot forward, at the upcoming edition. The event will be held from March 15 -18th, in the capital at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Lodhi Road.
When I reached at FDCI registrations were going on, there was hustle for auditions set up. It was great to witness that crazyness. I felt so good. Lot of aspiring models were tip-toeing around. Girls were busy with their costumes, makeup, walk. All seemed so nervours, excited and confident at the same time. I am saying confidence because this is what judges wanted to look in aspiring models along with height, measurements and other factors.
I felt like a dwarf among gigantic (actually all girls/boys were really tall) people, ha ha. The eminent jury comprising Veteran Designers such as JJ Valaya, Sunil Sethi, Rina Dhaka, Varun Bahl, Gautam Rakha, Fashion Choreographers Asha Kochhar and Vidyun Singh and Saumya Rathore were present. Amazon shortlisted the bevy of beauties, from a nationwide search of close to 200 aspiring models, brought together by their passion and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be an integral part of Asia’s most exuberant fashion and trade event. Models were evaluated on grace, self-belief, attitude, elegance and an endearing persona.

Sunil Sethi, President, FDCI said, "It was heartening to see an overwhelming turnout of participants and the immense capabilities they displayed. I would like to thank the distinguished FDCI jury for enabling these greenhorns to embark on a testing journey to success. The #GETNOTICED campaign is our way to add newness by incorporating fresh faces into the existing pool of models, in turn, making new stars of tomorrow.”
This season, Huawei ran a social media contest ‘Hunt for the Face of Honor’, in collaboration with the FDCI and shortlisted 26 young aspirants, to be a part of the model auditions. Six of the final shortlisted contestants were chosen to walk the ramp for the ‘Honor Show’ as part of the Amazon India Fashion Week Autumn-Winter 2017.
Lot of models showcased their talent on ramp and fresh faces were selected than and there. As it is said that in modelling world confidence, height, measurements and right attitude is what really matters nothing else. It was true as I observed that judges didn't selected models on the basis of fact that how good looking they were. Neither there was biasness based on skin colour, that was awesome. You have to have right talent and attitude and bingo you can be next model
