Skincare Tips For Holi

Hi Friends,

I know you guys are super excited as Holi is back. As a kid I was really fond of playing holi. I would get up before my mom would wake me up to fill water balloons, color bucket and other preparations for Holi. My mom was really smart as she never allowed us to step out of house without doing certain preparations so that our skin is not harmed by chemicals present in colors. In today’s post I would like to share few tips that might be helpful for you as they have always been for me.

You can’t control others but you have right over your purchase. So make sure that you are buying organic colors. They are slight expensive than ordinary but what is the harm in spending a little more just for yourselves.

Before you step out to play holi apply mustard oil all over your body including face and hair. I know it sounds weird but mustard oil is the strongest in providing requisite shied to skin as compared to other oils like olive or coconut.

Try to wear cotton clothes while playing holi. As if you play with water than cotton clothes dry easily on skin and doesn’t stick to your body like other fiber like synthetic, nylon, chiffon. Make sure than you are wearing clothes that covers your body properly. More your skin is exposed, higher are the chances of getting harm by colors.

Drink at least 2-3 glasses of water and eat your breakfast than only go out to play holi. Because what happens is when you are playing you don’t realize sometimes body gets dehydrated in sun and due to colors as well.

I have a personal request to all that please don’t play with water this year. Summers are getting extreme day by day and rains have become less. Finding fresh water is becoming challenge by every passing day. We should avoid wastage of water. Please just play with colors not water. Give some color, sweets to your maid and her kids also. They will feel good about it and will respect you more.

After holi make sure you use a really good soap like Fuschia or Shuddhi or dove to cleanse your skin. You can also make milk, besan paste to remove color from skin.

These are some of the tips that I follow to take care of my skin. Please let me know if you have anything to add to these. Any suggestions are welcome.

Stick to R&W

  2. Water aspect is really alarming too. I do not know how many people are realising that but I become violent when I see people behaving naively with fresh water. Thanks for sharing!
