But after battling for couple of days in my head I finally decided to go for it. This time India Runway Week 2017 venue was DLF Place Saket. If you have been to DLF Place Saket before than you know that they have large open area in front and that area was used for the India Runway Week shows. This time we fashion bloggers had a luxury of our private lounge with constant supply of food and beverages. Earlier we had to adjust ourselves with the media lounge and would often get stares from journalists that what are you doing in our lounge? (LOL)
I have attended so many fashion shows before but have never been to makeup lounge of models. The moment I stepped inside the lounge I felt that I am experiencing the movie fashion. It looks like a beautiful kiosk where artists are working hard to make some one beautiful. I gave my name for makeup and hairstyle to the girl who was taking names of models getting ready. Then there was this hair stylist he eyed me curiously and asked are you a model? I know what he was thinking; actually anyone in his place would by looking at my petite and overweight appearance. To his question I politely replied “yes for a day”. Everyone giggled around and it sets up the mood. I guess if you lightens up the mood around it is easy to work.
Kamal was my hairstylist for the day and he helped in fixing the one I had in mind. He was really cooperative and it was fun time for us. We clicked lot of selfies and I got lot of compliments for my hairstyle that day. Nikita was my makeup artist for the day and it took around forty five minutes for my makeup and twenty minutes on hair. Yeah it takes that much time to make one ready for the ramp. It was fun to sit next to actual models, sipping red bull and get your make up and hair done. I interacted with few models about their diet, skin and hair care routine and I was surprised to see them having generous portions.

After getting ready we still had some time to kill and we bloggers were back to our networking session. Everyone was asking each other are you nervous? I don’t know why but I was not nervous at all, I was feeling that I should be but I wasn’t. Finally we were called for rehearsals. The ramp was french brooder style which is very popular these days. Rishi was our show director for the day and his assistant Saloni was also very cooperative. They make professionals walk on regular basis and now they had to train bloggers. He didn’t train us or gave any tips for catwalk. He just guided us for our ramp show and surprisingly I was chosen to open the show. I could feel some butterflies fluttering in my belly now and after rehearsals we were sent back stage. Finally audience took their places and it was a houseful show. When I started walking all I could see were lights, cameras and ramp. This was my first ever ramp walk and that was a success. In fact Rishi complimented me after the show that I opened the show very well and my appearance was well received. Everyone enjoyed the show and later we came back home with so many proud moments in our heart.
It all started with an email invite to participate in IFFD India Runway Week 2017 as a ramp model for Casio G-Shock watches. I was excited to read that email that but knowing the requirements of fashion show I wanted to give it a skip. I don’t have stunning looks or svelte figure to grace the ramp for one and second I am still taking my baby steps in fashion and self styling. I was not sure if my styled look is going to work for ramp or not and that to be for a trendy and stylish watch brand G-Shock.
