IRW organized their fashion week
last weekend. It was a delight to be part of such prestigious events. For me it
was interesting to watch designers rushing around the venue, that fashionable
kiosk outside show venue waiting for show to begin, models whom we saw on ramp
were roaming freely after show. It was cool to witness all of that. It’s your choice
you could be dressed up like super model or comfortably. I chose latter as I knew
I will have to rush from one stall to another. And it was so taking pictures,
interviews it’s not an easy job. While watching the fashion show I have to be
attentive to details. I have listed down some of the designers along with
photos of models showcasing their notable collection.
Rajdeep Ranawat is a dynamic
designer who blended the hues of Gujarat Heritage, Kutch along with Swarovski.
He uses organic fabrics that breathe during the summer. In his interview he
told me about how he likes to experiment by presenting ethnic prints, designs,
embroideries, colours in most modern, elegant way. His collection had gowns,
suits, saree lehngas, kurta’s, Kaftans. I definitely want to have one piece in
my collection. His designs look like if someone is wearing heavy silver jewellery.
Noyonika Chatterjee was so impressed with his collection that she agreed to
start as well be a show stopper. She was so down to earth and Rajdeep is really
dynamic person.
Abhishek Roy’s Bohurupi spring
summer 2016 collection was showcased on the ramp. It was collation of
silhouettes for both men and women. Prints were inspired by natural greenery,
green, yellow colour of shrubs, trees, leaves. Textures were based on flowers
and vegetables and were hand developed using rollers, stencils, blocks. Brand
uses natural and organic fabric which makes it perfect for summers. Other than
being a great designer, he is a really good person. It was fun talking to him.
D & N by Dheeru and Nitika –
Both these designers are really pretty and so is their collection. Their designs
are inspired from silhouettes adorned by Parisian woman of late 80’s, 90’s.
They created whole range for modern Indian women and have presented beautiful
amalgamation of heritage Indian embroidery with Parisian silhouettes. Colours
selections were from bright summer hues to deep hues for special occasion.
Prachi and Saloni’s PS has its
roots from Jaipur. Their collection was inspired by Taj Mahal’s architectural
beauty and its timeless designs. They use yarns and unconventional fabric to
create clothes that are chic and modern as well as promote the work of local
artisans.
Sudhanshi Garg’s designs remind
of historic India in 17th century. From shirts to lehangas, crop
shirts with dhoti’s and many more were showcased during the show. Their
collection is great for summers because of choice of colours from coffee, wine,
and brick toning towards more natural hues.
Ashok Maanay’s “Tropical Iceberg”
was a fresh, cool collection that one can look after holiday festivities and
warm up for the season. His designs include strong spring colours, lighter
shades, pastels, tangerines, neutrals with soft fabric. It was definitely the
coolest collection for men.
Sailesh Singhania vision is to
revive the weaves to support the weavers to promote heritage of India. His
collection was a unique amalgamation of Ikat and Kanjeevrams along with
Benarasi’s organzas. Their contemporary designs make modern Indian women look
good not only in India but also globally.
I hope you enjoyed reading it. If
you are planning to rock your summer with designer wear does try these designer
wear. It’s always good to buy something out of the league.
