Friends,
Indians stranded in Kuwait,
waiting for their turn to return back to India. Those Indians who were settled
in Kuwait during 90’s and due to Iraq invasion in Kuwait, forced them to return
to India. This isn't a recent news headline, but was during 90's and is theme of upcoming film
Airlift. This film is directed by
Raja Krishnan Menon, produced by Bhushan Kumar, Nikhil Advani, written by Raja
Krishnan Menon, Suresh Nair, Ritesh Shah, Rahul Nangia, music by Amaal Mallik,
Ankit Tiwari.
Trailer Review – Airlift the
title itself was sufficient to arouse my interest to watch the trailer. I have
seen the trailer like ten – twelve times. I am always excited for thriller
films especially the ones with Akshay Kumar. He is undoubtedly one of my favs. The film is based on true incidents that
happened in 90’s during Kuwait when lot of Indians were evacuated by armed
forces of India. It was one of the most heroic missions till date. Akshay Kumar
is playing Ranjit Katyal in the film who as per film was most influential
Indian in Kuwait. His life too life other Indians become hell when Iraq invades
Kuwait. There are some scenes in trailer which gives you goosebumps. Some
scenes looked so real. Film was shot in UAE and sets were created to give a
look of Kuwait in 90’s. I was like oh my god these people must have been
through hell. Casting Nimrat Kaur was a good choice. Since Akshay is playing a
mature man, Nimrat seemed just apt for the role. Obviously one can expect lot
of Desh-Bhakti emotional scenes in the film. Best thing is that through these
type of films one can get to know what happened in past. I wasn’t aware of any
such incident (provided I don’t follow news). Now after watching the trailer I
did my little research on it. Such films could be over dramatic but if a good
story and execution is there films like this do wonder. I remember Baby of
Akshay Kumar which had a very good story line. Airlift is again by makers of D-Day and Baby. Film will release on 22
nd
January, 2016.
R&W Rating – 3.5/5
R&W Recommendation – This is
one of the few films which audience will enjoy watching in theatres more than
at home. I am putting my bet on it, what about you guys? What you think of the
trailer?
